2. The prescribed conditions for the purposes of the said Regulation 328 shall be-

(a) that the applicant is of good character; and (b) that he holds a medical diploma or diplomas, which, except where the applicant is one to whom para- graph (c) of this article relates, shall be a diploma or diplomas recognised for the time being by the General Medical Council for the purposes of this order as furnishing a sufficient guarantee of the possession of the requisite knowledge and skill for the efficient practice of medicine, surgery and midwifery;

and either-

or-

(c) that he is, or has been selected to serve as a medical officer holding a commissioned or comparable rank in-

(i) any of His Majesty's naval, military or air

forces; or

(ii) a naval, military or air force of any foreign power allied with His Majesty, being a force for the time being present in the United Kingdom or on board any of His Majesty's ships or aircraft; or

(iii) a naval, military or air force maintained by an authority recognised by His Majesty as competent to maintain such forces for service in association with His Majesty's forces;

(d) that he is employed, or has been selected for employment as a medical officer in a hospital or other institution or service which for the time being is approved by the Minister for the purposes of this order, or as an assistant to a medical practitioner who is registered in the Medical Register otherwise than by virtue of the Defence (General) Regulations, 1939, or to two or more such practitioners in partnership;

(e) that he is a British subject or a citizen of the United States of America, and that the diploma, or diplomas, which he holds has, or have, been granted in-

(i) one of the several provinces of the Dominion of

Canada; or

(ii) one of the following places, that is to say:

The several States and territories of the United States of America, the insular possessions of the United States of America (including the Philippine Islands), the Canal Zone and the District of Columbia.

3. Any approval given by the Minister under, and for the purposes of the Medical Register (Temporary Registration) Order, 1941(a), shall have effect as if it had been given under, and for the purposes of this order.

4. This order may be cited as the Medical Register (Tem- porary Registration) Order (No. 2), 1941, and shall come into force upon the date hereof.
